David Tan - co-leader in 2007-2008

David Tan has played violin since he was 4 years old, and studies with Marat Bisengaliev.

At the age of 7 he won the Rothwell Festival Under 11 class and has since won solo and recital classes in music festivals around Yorkshire. A regular memeber of Pro-Corda ensemble courses since he was 11, David was awarded the Course Prize for all round excellence in 2004.

He gained a scholarship to Leeds Grammar School in 2001, where, amongst other musical activities, he sang in a barbershop group. He represented the school in basketball and discus.

While leader of CLYO he performed the Wieniawski Violin Concerto No. 2. He was guest leader of the Leeds Symphony Orchestra, playing the solo in Rimsky-Korsakov.s Scheherazade. He has also played the Bach Double Concerto with his brother, Jonathon.

He is now studying Medicine at Newcastle University.
